Every week there’s a heartwarming story on the news of a soldier returning home from overseas. Maybe the community threw them a welcome home party, or the soldier surprised their family at the house. Even though you don’t know the soldier on a personal level, the story hits you right in the feels.
The best ones are the fathers who dress up in costume to surprise their kids, or the soldier who proposes to his girlfriend in front of millions of people. However, this one might take the cake. A soldier was relaxing on a United Airlines flight, returning home from deployment. All of a sudden, the pilot ends up coming out of the cockpit to speak with the soldier.
First Lt. Mario Lopes realized that the man coming towards him was his very own father, Capt. Mario Lopes, a United Airlines pilot. Mario Sr. seized the opportunity to pilot the military flight once he found out that his son was going to be on it. How cool is that?
