These are fashion brand names we just can't pronounce...

Moschino SS15 Barbie Imaxtree
From Moschino to Loewe, the fashion world is a linguistic minefield in which only the most diligent of us will emerge without getting tongue-tied.

Getting the name of the hottest new label wrong is a sin so bad it could get you thrown off the FROW, so thank goodness that Etiquette authority Debrett's has a new guide to help us.

They’ve published a list of the top ten fashion labels that we Brits have been saying wrong this whole time, and some of the entries (how could we get Ralph Lauren so wrong?!) are surprising…

The Debrett’s top 10 is as follows:

1. Lanvin
Commonly mistaken for: 'Lan-vin'
But actually it’s pronounced: 'Lahn-vanh'

2. Moschino
Commonly mistaken for: ‘Moh-shee-no’
But actually it’s pronounced: 'Mos-key-no'

3. Gieves & Hawkes
Commonly mistaken for: ‘Jeeves & Hawkes'
But actually it’s pronounced: 'Geeves & Hawkes'

4. Hermes
Commonly mistaken for: ‘Her-mez’
But actually it’s pronounced: ‘Er-mess’

5. Ralph Lauren
Commonly mistaken for: 'Ralph-lo-REN'
But actually it’s pronounced: 'Ralph LAUR-en'

6. Louis Vuitton
Commonly mistaken for: 'Loo-ee Vi-ton'
But actually it’s pronounced: 'Loo-ee Vwee-tton'

7. Givenchy
Commonly mistaken for: 'Gi-von-shee'
But actually it’s pronounced: 'Zjee-von-she'

8. Sonia Rykiel
Commonly mistaken for: 'Sonia Ry-kell'
But actually it’s pronounced: 'Sewn-yah Ree-key-el'

9. Balmain
Commonly mistaken for: ‘Bal-mein’
But actually it’s pronounced: ‘Bahl- mahn’

10. Loewe
Commonly mistaken for: 'Lo-wey'
But actually it’s pronounced: ‘Loh-wev-eh'

And here are a few others we totally struggle with….
Miu Miu – ‘Mew Mew’
Balenciaga – ‘Bal-en-see-agar’
Mary Katrantzou – ‘Mary Kat-rant-zoo’
Rodarte – ‘Ro-dart-ay’
Saint Laurent – ‘San Laur-ont’
