City honors marathon victims, survivors on One Boston Day

Ceremonies, blood drive held Friday
BOSTON —Boston and all of Massachusetts are honoring the victims of the Boston Marathon attack Friday.
Marathon-victimsFriday is also a tribute to the many survivors who continue to demonstrate strength and courage three years later.
One Boston Day details
Mayor Marty Walsh, Gov. Charlie Baker along with victim’s families and survivors will take part in a wreath-laying ceremony Friday morning where the bombs went off on Boylston Street.
Survivors, including Jeff Bauman and Heather Abbott, along with heroes from the day, including Carlos Arredondo and Shane O’Hara, were in attendance.

At 2:49 p.m., there will be a moment of silence at City Hall Plaza.
The spirit of One Boston Day will also be honored on Copley Square with a blood drive organized by a young marathon bombing survivor.
Gillian Reny was still in high school when she was severely injured during the bombings three years.
She and her family have turned the terrible event into something positive by establishing the Stepping Strong Fund, which raises money for trauma care and research.

The family and fund are holding a blood drive Friday from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Boylston Street. You can sign up here.
Reny said helping others with the fund has helped her and her family find some healing.
